You want to move files from Computer A to Computer B and have connected the two computers using a crossover Ethernet cable. Here's how to setup File Sharing:
Computer A
- Highlight the HD icon
- Press Command-I
- In the drop-down menu, select "Sharing."
- If file sharing is not on (it probably isn't), you be asked if you want to open the File Sharing Control Panel. Say yes.
- In the control panel, start File Sharing. This may take a couple of minutes.
- Next, open the Users & Groups Control Panel.
- Select the "Guest" icon and click on Open, then select "Sharing" in the drop-down menu.
- Check "Allow guests to connect to this computer."
- Open the AppleTalk control panel and select "Connect via: Ethernet." Make sure AppleTalk is active.
Computer B
- Open the Apple Talk Control Panel.
- Select "Connect via: Ethernet." Make sure AppleTalk is active.
- Open the Chooser.
- Select "AppleShare."
- You should see Computer A's HD in the window. Select it.
- In the resulting window, select the HD. Close the Chooser.
- Computer A's HD should now appear on Computer B's desktop.
